Back to Y2K—Peter Wolf Brings His Favorite Country Records—an Archival HAH

Twenty-one years ago, March 25th, 2000, John Lincoln Wright convinced his long-time friend, rock singer Peter Wolf, to bring down some of his favorite country records to Hillbilly at Harvard. Pete was a regular listener, and as we discovered, as devoted to country music as to the blues and rock-and-roll. The result was a memorable and often hilarious session with Ol’ Sinc hosting and Lincoln chiming in. There were other guests that morning, including Dave Foley, Elijah Wald, and Gordy Brown, making for an entertaining and slightly chaotic show.

Peter Wolf was a good friend and colleague of John Lincoln Wright, penning this brief tribute to Lincoln’s 1990 album, That Old Mill, on Northeastern Records (1990).

Join us this Saturday (the 27th), if all goes well, for an Archival Production of Hillbilly at Harvard, featuring the last three hours of that memorable show. I have not edited out the Country Calendar announcements (nor even the weather), figuring regular listeners will know that these are from an earlier time, with some of the performers and clubs no longer with us—including Lincoln, of course. Peter Wolf sits down with Ol’ Sinc about midway through the second hour. And of course Sinc and I hold forth, mistakes and all, before that. /CL

The show this morning (3/27/2021) was terrific! It was so good to hear you, Sinc, John Lincoln Wright, Peter Wolf, and what fun life was in “the good old days.” The music was wonderful! I loved hearing the calendar and remembering all the places we were able to go to hear live music. Thank you so much, Cousin Lynn, for another wonderful Saturday morning. There is light at the end of the tunnel. Please stay with us! Diane from Peabody
