Received this email from David Johnson last week:
I hope this e-mail finds you and Hillbilly at Harvard well. I am up late working on a writing project.
If you happen to be playing some Stanley Brothers on the program, I hope you will extend my thanks to Boston-area book buyers. On the Amazon sales listing (the only one available to me), eastern Massachusetts is the leading sales area for the book. I do not know how to account for this other than your having invited me to appear on the show, and the fact that the you play the Stanley Brothers. The middle Tennessee region around Nashville is next. In October, I spoke at the Southern Festival of Books in Nashville.
Some kind reader nominated Lonesome Melodies for a 2015 Library of Virginia Literary Award in nonfiction. I would love for the book to receive an honor in Carter and Ralph’s home state.
All best regards,
My emphasis. I don’t know what numbers David is talking about, nor whether he’s right that HAH is responsible, but hey—we’ll take credit where we can get it. At any rate, I like to think that HAH radioland is a hotbed of Stanley Brothers fans. And we’ll do our best to keep it that way!
PS The paperback is now available. /CL
